"Parol" is the name for these quality Christmas lanterns that are native to the Philippine Pampanga culture north of Manila. In older days they were colorful tissue-on-bamboo frame 3-D stars that decorated homes and stores for the Christmas holiday. These parols are made from the seashell capiz. The shells are hand-cut and framed with soldered brass strips. Inside the hollow parols are C7 bulbs, on several coordinated "dancing", or flashing circuits, to give a festive, lively Christmas decoration for a window, wall or ceiling. They all have a hanging hook.
